Beach Day

Doggie

Aria came to the shelter late 2023 and she quickly found a sweet spot in all our hearts!

Aria has come a long way since then, she has learnt to walk on a lead, follow commands and how to share a space with other dogs in a friendly manor.

As we took Aria to the beach we had some worries she wouldn't like the car, but boy were we wrong! She got in, sat down and enjoyed the drive down the windy hills from the shelter to Asselinos beach.

Once on the beach she didnt even hesitste, started to run and play!

As we arrived there was a large group of seagulls there and she watched them as they took off up in the sky, and somehow in my heart I believe that she in some way felt a little bit like them as she could run free in the sand with the wind from the sea playing in her furcoat. She had a fantastic time and showed us what we already knew- she is a real keeper!

If you are looking for a lovely girl doggie Aria could be just the one!

Walnut is a special boy, full of beans, love and affection. He can be noisy, loud and very excitable at the shelter but there is a whole new side to his personality and character away from the shelter.

He was reluctant to get into the car, but this was his very first time being in a car, so understandable. Once we arrived at the beach Walnut was wonderful boy, he loved it.

He stayed with Jenny and I the whole time, never ran off or pull on the training lead.

He was an absolute gentleman, there was a different side to Walnut: calm, relaxed, and very well behaved.

Dolly was an absolute delight to take to the beach. As she is quite timid, she was sceptical to the car, but calmed down fast. She nearly fell asleep when receiving cuddles during the drive.

Once we arrived to the beach, she was overly excited. Sniffed all over the beach, dug a couple holes, and did a pointer stand on some insects. She really enjoyed running around and taking in the new smells.

Surprisingly, she was not afraid of the water at all, and the waves did not frighten her much.

She is usually quite afraid of sudden movements, but once out of the shelter, her tail was wagging and the noises from the sea were not a problem. After running around and sniffing the seaweeds on the beach, she calmly enjoyed the cuddles and almost fell asleep with both of us.

She would be a perfect dog for a day out in nature, as she is eager to walk, but so easy to calm down as well. When she is feeling secure, it takes only some seconds before she lays down on her back and closes her eyes

Lucky was afraid and skeptical of the car. It seems as he has some bad memories connected to the vehicles. Once he was in the car, he was stressed and alert, not wanting to even eat treats.

He was not panicking though. During the short drive, he calmed down and finally accepted the situation, and enjoyed some treats.

Once we arrived to the beach, he was the happiest dog on earth. Had some sniffs, and when he realized he was on a long leash, he started running around, having zoomies and enjoyed the life to its fullest.

When playing with a toy, he started to dig in the sand and stick his head into the hole. He then continued to run around, wiggling with not only his tail, but his whole body. He was curious about the water, although a little bit afraid of the waves.

When accompanied, he walked into the water several times. After getting out all of his energy, he started to roll in the sand, and finally laid down for a short break.

He calmly enjoyed the cuddles and the attention. The recall was also working great - he came back every time we called his name, and gratefully accepted the treat as a reward
